![]() New players are screwed over at this point. And you have to have done that like, ten years ago. If you want to make progress, get new heroes, items or anything else, you have to be a part of everything. I mean, there's a pretty obvious wall for players who are willing to just shell out as much time and money as possible. So far, their response has not been promising. There is a huge player outcry about these new changes and the way the devs respond to them will determine whether I keep playing or not. I bought a season pass a couple weeks ago and I wouldn't have if I knew this was coming. Someone looked at the numbers, realized how much loot they were handing out, and decided that this was unacceptable when removing that free content might result in more revenue. ![]() Assuming you don't spend real money to speed things up, of course, which I guess is what the devs are hoping for. I have seen some older players estimate that after these changes, what took them a year to achieve will take new players five years. Old players got it for free, new players get screwed, and the only reasoning I can see for the way this change has been implemented is that they want new players spending more money. What I see looking at this as a new player is simple: old players got literally thousands of dollars worth of free content that has been removed for new players. Looking at the cash shop, 42 Patron Chests cost $49.99, so buying 927 would cost you about $1,100. ".the highest level Patron Variant currently awards over 4,600,000 Patron Currency, which can be used to purchase 927 Patron Chests, resulting in at least 92 epic items (and likely many more) from a single Patron Variant." Remember those huge rewards for endgame players that I mentioned earlier? According to the dev blog, I don't play a lot of games with cash shops so maybe this is the norm but you could spend an obscene amount of money, easily thousands of dollars, without coming close to unlocking everything. ![]() Listening to player feedback is always a huge positive or negative for games in early access or ones like this that are constantly adding new content and to see the devs aggressively dismiss and ignore the concerns of players with thousands or tens of thousands of hours invested in the game really makes me pause. Fine, not a huge deal, but the dev response in reddit Q&As was essentially "we're changing it, we don't owe you any explanation, end of story". The new screen makes you click on different categories to see all your quests rather than seeing them on a single page. The old UI was objectively superior, in that it let you displays all your quests on a single screen and see them at a glance. As an example, there was a recent change to part of the UI that displays your current quests. Past that, the devs response to this and other criticism has really raised some red flags for me. These people are already far ahead of me due to having played for longer, and now the gap has massively widened since they were able to benefit from rewards that I'll never have the chance to earn. ![]() If I ever get to the point of completing that same endgame content, I'll get less than 10% of what older players got. As a new player looking ahead to endgame content, it's incredibly demoralizing to see that older players were able to get huge rewards for completing endgame content but since I'm a newer player, I won't be able to get those same rewards. I've had a fun time learning about the game and planning out how I'll progress, but as you'll see in other recent negative reviews, there have been some recent changes that take what was a massive reward for long-time, endgame players and remove it for anyone who hasn't achieved it yet. I'm a new player, started playing with the recent Steam promo.
